Dogs & Cats Challenge Entries
Well, dogs certainly won the day in our Dogs and Cats design challenge! They outnumbered the cats by 7 to one! Most of the designers this time also told us a bit about their design process.
So, here they are:
Dogs Galore by Claire Hearse
Poppy & Ruby by Anita Parsons
Anita says, 'I enjoy drawing animals and like to experiment with ways these drawings can be used in designs for fabric.'
Sausage Dogs Blue by Sally Roydhouse (FabricM)
Sally says, 'This design developed from sausage dog cut and sew kits I make. Dachshunds are such characters that I wanted to do a pretty fabric combining sausage dogs and florals.'
Dalmatians by Sarah Wilson
Sarah says, 'My Dalmatian design originated from a collage I've hand-cut from recycled papers (old magazines and packaging). It's one of a series of Stonking Fidos collages I've recently made'
Dog in a T-Shirt by Gabriel Parfitt
Gabriel says, 'The featured dog is based on a photo taken in Havana, Cuba where due to collars being scarce, many dog owners dress their pets in old children’s clothes to distinguish them from strays.' This is the photo Gabriel used:
I Love Spaniels by Laura Wright Artist
Laura says, ' My inspiration...drawing with my son Arthur and he told me to pick a theme for my drawing, he picked superheroes, I chose spaniels and so this design was created. Featuring Diddy the wonderdog and Primrose Puppy!'
Hug a Beagle by Suzanne Jones (Heckadoodledo)
And, finally, our one and only cat design!
Hepcat Blue by Sentimentalist
Emma-Jane says, ' This design was inspired by vintage barkcloth fabrics with jazz age cats, fish bones echoing 1940s botanical prints and atomic styling for the balls of yarn, paw prints and background.'
