Christmas Design Competition Round 2!

20 October 2014 20:46

Frantic voting in this month's design competition had to be interrupted yesterday evening, when it was brought to our attention that one entry may have contravened the spirit and possibly the letter of the rules.  We don't believe there was any malicious intent, but we had to conclude that the entry did not really abide by the rules.  We also concluded that we should clarify the rules somewhat.

As from now, the rules will state that 'You may only submit one entry, which must be your own work.  ‘Your own work’ means any form of art work, photography, etc which you have produced.   Small, single colour clip art images (max. 5cms) are acceptable as part of a larger design.  Larger images taken from books, the internet, etc are not acceptable for our competitions.  (You may, of course, use these images in your designs which are not for competitions, as long as they are in the public domain, ie not subject to copyright.)'

We hope that everyone agrees that this is a reasonable interpretation of 'your own work'.

We are sorry that we had to suspend the voting and hope that you will understand.  We will re-run the voting from this Thursday, October 23rd until Tuesday, October 28th.  If you'd already voted, please vote again (from Thursday), as previous votes won't count.
