Making Presents for Women

04 December 2014 08:19

Are you still looking for inspiration for gifts to make for women?

On the clothing front, Tilly of Tilly and the Buttons has some pretty little accessories, like a bow belt

and a headscarf.

If you're looking for something for someone close, how about some frilly knickers?  Barmy Beetroot tested these and gave them the thumbs up:

Or lacy French knickers from Colette:

Slippers often seem like a bit of a cliche, but not when they're hand made!  These are made from a pattern on I think I sew via The Mother Huddle, but there are lots more patterns on Pinterest.  There are a couple on my board Crafty Sewing Ideas.

Then there's quilting.  I could write a list a mile long for quilted gifts - ipad covers, kindle cases, mug rugs, cushion covers, table runners, mug cosies ....

Finally, aprons.  Personally, I don't like gifts that are too practical, so if you're going for this option, choose something frilly or frivolous, rather than just practical.  This one from Flamingo Toes is simple but a bit frilly and could be jazzed up with pretty fabric - there's still time to order from Print me Pretty!

Even frillier, from Horror Maedchen:

I love this one for Grandma, from In my Shoes.  I couldn't find the instructions (you may do better!) but you could copy the idea, using another pattern for the apron.  I would imagine the hand prints are made using fabric paint.  Dylon makes small jars of fabric paint which you can find in art shops or haberdashers.
