Design Competition

24 February 2014 09:04

Drum roll please:  at last we can announce the launch of our first design competition.  Here are the details.

The theme is Winter.

Create a design suitable for printing on fabric with a design based on Winter – anything connected to winter.  We haven’t had a very cold winter (so far) this year – just a very soggy one - but maybe you’ve just had a half-term skiing trip to inspire you?  Or the dark nights, snuggled in front of the fire, the bare trees, or ….  Let your imagination run wild.

As our web-site isn’t quite up and running yet, we will run this competition slightly differently from what I hope will be the norm.

Technical matters:

Your design should be at a resolution of at least 150 dpi (200 -  300 is even better) using RGB colour space.

When it comes to printing, the repeat options are:

Straight:

Centre:

Half-drop:

Half-brick:

Mirror:

I’m sorry that you can’t yet play around with repeats to see which look best.  Maybe next time…..  If you can, you may like to show the repeat yourself.  If you can’t, but would like a repeat to be shown, email your design to me, Janet, at admin@printmepretty. co.uk, by March 2nd and I will do the repeat for you.

To enter:

Upload your design onto our Facebook page between March 9th and March 12th, labelling it Design Competition and giving your design a title.

The closing date is March 12th, after which designs will be open for voting .  Voting will close on March 19th.  The design with the most votes will win 3 metres of 100% cotton fabric (150cm wide), printed with your design.  The winning design will also be available for sale on our web site for at least 1 week after the close of voting.  (Or at least 1 week after the web site goes live.)

The official bit:

By entering, you agree to our competition terms and conditions.

You may only submit one entry, which must be your own work and based on the theme of Winter.

All entries will be displayed for public voting, unless we feel that the subject matter is inappropriate.  Copyright will remain with you, but by entering the competition, you give us the right to use your design in any way we wish on our web site and social media, for advertising purposes.

The winning design will feature on our web site and will be available for sale for a week after we announce the winner.  After that time, the designer may leave the design for sale, or remove it from public view.  The designer will be paid £2 per metre commission on any sales of the design.

Good luck!
