What Have You Made?

04 May 2015 09:23

This month, instead of a design competition, we are hosting a making competition.  What have you, or can you, make with our fabric?

We've sold lots of fabric in some amazing designs, but there's lots of it we haven't seen made up.  We would love to see what you've been making!  So we decided to make it into a competition.  Anyway, why should the designers have all the fun?

The Competition

Make something using fabric printed by us.  It can be fabric you have designed, or someone else's design.  You can make anything you like - soft toys, cushions, dresses, lampshades - anything at all.  Take a photo of your make and email it to me at admin@printmepretty.co.uk.  It can be something you've already made, or something you make specially - you've just got time to order some fabric from our Market Place and get it made before the closing date of May 20th.

The entries will be judged by a guest judge.  Obviously, we can't judge your sewing skills from a photo - and you may not have done any sewing.  I know people have made lampshades and covered books with our fabric.  The entries will be judged on their use of the fabric, a good combination of design with the item you've made, etc.

FULL COMPETITION RULES AND DETAILS:

The competition is:  Make something using fabric printed by us.

Email a photo of your make to admin@printmepretty.co.uk.  I will then put them onto Facebook and the blog.

To enter:

Email your make by midnight on Wednesday, May 20th, to admin@printmepretty.co.uk, telling me what it is - just in case I can't tell!  You can give it a title if you wish.

The closing date for receiving designs is midnight on Wednesday, May 20th, after which photos will be displayed on Facebook.  There will be no voting this month.  The winning design, as chosen by our guest judge, will win 1 metre of 100% cotton fabric (150cm wide), printed with the design of your choice plus some crafty bits and pieces.

The official bit:

By entering, you agree to our competition terms and conditions.

You may only submit one entry, which must be your own work - something you've made from fabric we've printed.

All entries will be displayed for public viewing, unless we feel that the subject matter is inappropriate.  Copyright will remain with you, but by entering the competition, you give us the right to use your photo in any way we wish on our web site and social media, for advertising purposes.

Happy making!
