Just Got Made Weekender

21 January 2016 20:44

Have you come across Just Got Made yet?  If not, can I suggest you have a quick look at their website

JGM was founded in 2014 by Helen Kemp, to bring together design-led maker professionals, micro-manufacturers and suppliers.  The web site contains a directory listing a growing number of small businesses from crafty makers to suppliers.  You can find Print me Pretty here, too!  If you're looking for a business, whether a maker or a supplier, you can search the directory by region, area of interest, materials, services and more.  Their aim is to 'build a directory that is relevant & trustworthy for the thousands of maker professionals & enthusiasts here in the UK.'

As part of the drive to bring together everyone who's interested in micro businesses, especially crafty ones, Just Got Made is organising a weekend event at the end of February.  It's being held in an old warehouse in Bermondsey at Somerset House and will be open from 11am till 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, February 27th and 28th.  You can find Print me Pretty there too!

I'm currently putting together a presentation, with help from Made by Mrs M, which I plan to have running on a laptop on my stand throughout the weekend.  (Sadly, we can't take the printer along, as it won't go up the stairs!  Or on the bus.)  If you have any questions about digital printing, it will be the perfect opportunity to ask.  I may be running a design workshop, too - keep an eye on this space, and Facebook and Twitter, as I'm waiting to hear about that from the organisers.  I will also be selling off-cuts of fabric and small printed pieces from aborted runs, plus some of Mrs M's wares.

It's the first time I've done anything like this and I'm really looking forward to it.  Actually, 'this' is a first for most people, I think - a sort of cross between a craft fair and a trade show.  There'll be crafty businesses there, selling their makes.  There'll also be people like myself, who supply other small businesses.  So if you're a small business, it's an opportunity not to be missed!

Hope to see you there.   You can get your tickets here.
